Be Prepared to be Amazed:


Meet Team RamRod

Team RamRod got it's name from the movie "Super Troopers". It has 4 members: Matt Diffenderfer, Andy Meyer, Ed Newman, and Liz Sherzer.

Matt Diffenderfer: Matt is a junior majoring in Computer Engineering. He would like to work at Intel someday. He is from the Detroit area. Matt is in the University of Michigan Marching Band, Euphonium Section.

Andy Meyer: Andy is a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He likes grilling burgers and watching movies in his free time (he doesn't have much, he is an engineering student at Michigan after all). Andy is from Wisconsin.

Ed Newman: Ed is the lonely sophomore in the group. He is planning to major in mechanical engineering, but has yet to declare. He is also in the University of Michigan Marching Band, Euphonium Section. Ed is from Pennsylvania.

Liz Sherzer: Liz is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering. She likes walks on the beach and watching snow fall while drinking hot chocolate. She is from Southwest Michigan and is part of the University of Michigan Track and Field team, working on the multi-event.

Push to the Finish!

Its been a busy week full of machining, assembling, workings, and fixing problems for Team RamRod. Car RamRod was completely assembled on Monday. Some testing was done, and we are trying to fix it all before we have to turn the machine in on Wednesday. After redesigning the gear box a week or two ago, we had to re-make some parts and several new parts were added to make our machine more robust.

Below are some pictures of the assembly of the machine:

 We are using our acrylic roof to hold our motor for the roller.

You can see the new gear box on the right. We had to move the gear acrylic holder to the outside of the tracks so we will be able to drive around on the top.

Here you can see the completed machine. The threads are on and the roller is attachted. It runs, which is always a good thing.


Here is a front view of our robot. Our machine will drive up to the ping pong and squash balls. The roller will such the balls into the storage area and keep them in there. Upon testing, no more than 4 squash balls can be in there at one time.
